How does the body lose fat? I’m guessing most of us are interested and maybe want to lose some.
Losing it quickly is relative though. Some may see quickly as one or two weeks, others may see it as a month or two. Generally speaking 1.5-2lbs (<1kg) is seen as a healthy amount to lose per week.
Losing excess body fat isn’t just about losing weight, in fact, it could be you want to gain weight but reduce your body fat percentage.
This website will give you a basic understanding of the body and that in turn will lead to achieving your goals. We’ll look at understanding how the body stores fat, when it breaks it down, whether you are male or female, how old you are, nutrition, how to lose body fat with diet and exercises
You can’t choose where you reduce or lose excess body fat. Your body decides that for you.
In an ideal world, we’d love to be able to choose which areas of the body to lose excess fat, unfortunately, it’s not like that. You can’t just target belly fat, do hundreds of sit-ups and get rid of it. In fact, sit-ups will do very little for you in any sort of fat loss. The muscle group isn’t big enough to burn enough calories.
Body fat loss comes from one of two things or both:
- Reduction in calorie intake – diet
- Burning more calories – exercise.
You need to burn more calories than you consume; a calorie deficit.
We’ll look at both these but firstly we’ll discuss the body in the next post.
